PRWA supports striking Post-Gazette workers

In the face of Pittsburgh Post-Gazette ownership (Block Communications Inc.) continuing their bad faith bargaining techniques, Pittsburgh Restaurant Workers Aid will not grant interviews, answer requests from, or support an organization that continues to disrespect its workers and undermine their ability to organize.

As restaurant and service industry workers who struggle with low wages and lack of protections/benefits, we hate to see bosses anywhere publicly disrespect their workers, especially when those workers are rightfully defending and building on the protections that others before had to fight for.

We are encouraging our own community across the region’s restaurant and food service industries to extend their support to the advertising workers, journalists, typographers, delivery workers and all striking employees of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette by also refusing to speak with the Post-Gazette until the striking workers’ demands are met.

We encourage other organizations and community leaders to stand with striking workers and speak with/subscribe to the Pittsburgh Union Progress, the worker-led newspaper where PG staffers are continuing their award-winning coverage.

If you have not yet already, cancel your subscription to the Post-Gazette and tell the Block brothers you will only renew when they meet the striking workers’ demands.
