PRWA and USBG Holiday Drive

Pittsburgh Restaurant Workers Aid and the United States Bartenders Guild are happy to be joining forces this winter to collect holiday gifts and winter coats for kids in our community!

This winter season is going to be much different and much more difficult for those of us who work in the food and beverage industry. The things we often look forward to and rely on – busy restaurants, holiday parties, friends and families celebrating together, and a seasonal boost to our incomes – simply can not happen while COVID-19 cases continue to rise. Instead, many of us will struggle through this holiday season, facing the closures of our workplaces, lost shifts, empty dining rooms, and layoffs while waiting for economic assistance that may never come.

This drive seeks to put a bit of joy and normalcy back into our holidays, by distributing gifts and much needed winter coats for the children of restaurant and hospitality workers who have been affected by the pandemic. We are seeking new and like-new gifts and warm coats for children of all ages, from infants to teens.

Items are being collected at all USBG events, at the PRWA Distribution Center (6901 Lynn Way, Pittsburgh PA, 15208, Monday 1:30-7, Tuesday-Saturday 2-6PM), Tina’s (4114 Main Street, Pittsburgh PA 15224, Thursday-Saturday 12-8PM,) and Spirit (242 51st St, Pittsburgh, PA 15201, Thursday & Friday 5-10PM, Saturday 2-10PM, Sunday 2-8PM). We are looking for additional drop off locations, let us know if you or your business can help! We are also happy to accept donations of non-perishable food, cleaning supplies, and baby care necessities. These items are in high demand with our recipients!

A few helpful guidelines for donations:

  • Please do not wrap items. Knowing what each item is will let us send gifts to the kids who will love them the most!
  • All gifts must be in new or like-new condition. We love regifting and passing things on that your own children may have outgrown, but please make sure that your gifts are clean and ready to be given as if they are brand new to the next child.
  • Items that are non-gender specific, such as board games, craft kits, and science and nature toys, can make all of our kids happy! We welcome all kinds of toys, but we also want to make sure that every child in our network can receive an appropriate present. If you are having trouble picking out the most awesome gift, look for something made for everyone!
  • If you can not donate in person, we have created a Target Registry filled with a wonderful variety of requested items that can be shipped directly to our Distribution Center.
